Harlequin Big 5 Tournament 2018

After many months of preparation and organizing we finally arrived at the weekend we have been working so hard for – the 2018 Harlequin Big 5! The weather allowed a great display of bowls. Even though Sunday morning provided a chilly outlook on a day that was very important, it turned out beautifully. Without going any further we have to say thank you. To the Harlequin Committee, helpers and staff – THANK YOU for your hard work, commitment and efforts before and during the tournament. The time that has been put in is worth more than anything. The president thanks you.

To the players, local and from surrounding areas, your participation makes this all possible. HD quality of bowls were on display. The sportsmanship and camaraderie was unbelievable. There is still much greatness left in this beloved game of ours that we try to keep alive. It was great to see! Current and previous Protea and provincial players were present. Congratulations to all those who took part. You all took something home with you, but your footprints remain behind. Our sincere gratitude and thanks to Pierre Terblanche from Merops Wedding & ConferenceVenue ( who sponsored the Big 5 and has agreed to walk with us for the next 4 years too. We are beyond excited and ecstatic about this! Please visit the website to see their offers and special prices for venue hire etc. To our MC Zeke Weaver -thank you! Sterling job as always. Your creativity, humour and attention to detail is unbelievable. Zeekie zeekie zeekie Oi Oi Oi. To the prettiest photographer we know – Nadia Boshoff (NB Photography) who took stunning pics and had them ready for posting after every round a massive ZOOMED in thank you. Please visit her Facebook page for more info or if you would like to get a quote on an event you are hosting. You will not be disappointed! To the sibling pair of Leani and Liam Mitchell, who served behind the bar – you two rocked! Thank you for always being on your post and looking after our guests, for your patience and hard work too. We are humbled at Quins for many reasons –  and appreciation to the members of our club – for donations and support all the time, help and assistance is always offered. We can’t do it without you. Thank you. Every club is fighting for survival. We are supporting and working harder than ever for events to be a success. Irrespective the curveballs that have been thrown we move along swiftly and stronger than always. Congratulations to our winners. It was good to see the healthy competition all round. New faces and old ones were present again. Just a heads up – the Big 5 is already 58%booked for next year‼ From a very tired yet happy committee – thank you till we see you again!
